Gender inclusive sporting environments: the proportion of women in non-player roles over recent years

Abstract Background Throughout the ecosystem of sport, women have been and continue to be underrepresented at all levels compared men. The capacity community-level sport is heavily reliant on many non-player roles including governance, as well administration, coaching officiating. Recently there has increased attention improving gender balance in sport. aim this study investigate proportions engaged non-playing (2016–2018). Methods This involved secondary analysis AusPlay survey, a national population funded by Sport Australia. utilised data from people aged 15-years or older about their involvement demographic data. Survey respondents were asked “During last 12 months, you with any sports nonplaying role, such official, coach, referee, administrator, etc?” Analysis role responses focussed specifically top four categories; administrator manager. Frequency concentrated distribution men for three years, detailed most recent year (2018). Results In 61,578 Australians was higher proportion women, across each years (2018: 55 %, 46 %).
